So you'll get warm, accurate skin tones, gorgeous greens, breathtaking blues and vivid reds. For color that's as rich and bold as life itself, look to a Panasonic Plasma TV. |
| Consistent brightness from any angleA Panasonic Plasma combines anti-glare and anti-reflection technology with the natural light-emitting properties of plasma, to give you a super-wide viewing range with a crisp, beautiful image from almost any angle. |
Smooth, graceful motionWhen you're watching sports or movies with fast-motion graphics, you want a TV that can keep up with the action. With over 900 lines of moving picture, self-illuminating plasma displays eliminate afterimages in fast-action scenes. So whether you're watching a sporting event or an action-packed movie, you'll always get the most impressive viewing experience possible. |
1,000,000:1 ContrastThe Panasonic's Real Black system (a pre-discharge suppression system) and improved panel production processes combine to reproduce outstanding blacks with superb contrast. Each image is richly expressive, from bright scense, like scorching desert landscapes, to dark cave scenes. Compare the image produced by conventional HDTV on the left to the Real Black image produced on the right |
More ColorsViera HDTVs support the xvYCC color profile (Extended YCC Colorimetry for Video Applications), or "x.v. color" for short. Standard RGB color space allows the display of a portion of the colors that are viewable to the human eye. The next generation "xvYCC" color space actually offers an available range of colors that exceeds what human eyes can recognize.
|
Deep ColorWhere x.v. color expands the available range of colors your HDTV can display, Deep Color increases the number of colors your HDTV can display within that range, for smoother transitions from color to color.

Connectivity
Viera flat panel HDTVs interact with an array of high-definition devices and services, making it easy for consumers to access and enjoy content as never before. As of 2008, Viera Link is compatible with Onkyo and Yamaha home theater systems.Videos and stills recorded on SD cards can easily be viewed via the SD slots on Panasonic Blu-Ray Disc players and Viera HDTVs. | |
Viera Link means easy connectivity via HDMI cables. Finally, consumers can easily operate their Blu-Ray Disc players, DVD recorders and home theater systems with a single remote control device. |
Long LifePanasonic plasma panels are rated to last 100,000 hours, which is about 30 years of regular or 11 years of non-stop usage before the brightness of the display is halved. |
Get Full HD with Blu-Ray Disc PlayersA Panasonic 1080p plasma television is able to render 1920x1080 pixels, but standard DVDs have a resolution of just 720x480. Blu-ray discs output true 1080p High-Definition resolution and have a storage capacity ten times greater than standard DVDs, so no pixel gos to waste. |

Customer Review: Wow! What a difference, and what a screen!
I recently upgraded from a 27" Panasonic tube TV to this 50" 720p plasma screen TV. Wow! What an amazing piece of electronics!!! I opted for the 720p instead of a 1080p unit for the following reasons: 1) I have a large collection of DVDs, and the main use for this screen will is for watching movies. 2) Since my collection is not hi-def, there was little reason to pay the nearly $1000 more for additional pixels/inch that I will not use. 3) The price dropped significantly on this unit in the weeks before Christmas, thus making it an even better buy! 4) You can see the picture clearly from nearly every angle - and that's important for my family since my wife often prefers to watch while she stands by the fireplace, and that vantage point gives her about a 75 degree angle of view - and it even looks great from there! I had never owned a big-screen TV before, so I didn't really know what a difference the screen size and quality makes when watching anything. Even my wife, who watches movies only occasionally readily admits that the big screen greatly enhances the movie-watching experience. I found this TV to be easy to install, intuitive to use, and a joy to have. There were sufficient inputs to accommodate two DVD players and a game system. The TV can also be used to view photos stored on SD cards, and the remote is also easy to figure out and use...that's a nice perk! Why oh why did I wait so long to invest?! Oh, I heard that plasma is better than LCD for watching things like sports and action movies. While I have not been able to do a side-by-side comparison in my own home, I found that observation to hold true when I compared plasma and LCD units in the store. This Panasonic is a great find. While it may not meet every need of the top-flight Blue-Ray disc watcher, it meets and exceeds my every need! I'd highly recommend this set to my extended family and best friends. Oh, if you do not have someone come and install this unit for you, be sure that you have someone else handy that can help you load and unload it, as well as help you unbox it and move onto your TV stand, because this is one heavy TV. It probably weighs about 100 lbs., and it's kind of bulky. By the way, if you plan to use the provided TV stand, it is easily installed onto the TV itself, since it takes only four screws to attach the TV to the base. All in all, I've been extremely pleased with this TV, and I highly recommend it! 5 stars all the way for watching standard DVDs.
Customer Review: Awesome Purchase
I would encourage anyone to buy this television. My husband and I researched Plasma tv's and 720 vs. 1080 for several months. We are exceptioanlly pleased with this model and the picture is great. Amazon is a great site to make a purchase and we ended up getting a $30.00 refund for using an Amazon Visa card. Shipping was free too. This is definitely the year to purchase Big Screen TV's.
Pixel Resolution -
Not many people are aware of this but a TV resolution is made up of what is known as pixels, and as you would expect the more pixels means the better image you will see on your screen. For example a 720 HD TV produces about 1 million pixels, whereas a 1080 HD TV produces around 2 million pixels, resulting in an image that has more detail and color.
100Hz -
Another common headline you will see when manufactures are marketing their products, is 100Hz. Now you will see this on large screen TVs, and this is digital technology used to double the frequency of the image refresh rate. What this does is removes all traces of flicker and makes the image look even better on screen.
HDMI Connections -
HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface, and normally relates to the number of HDMI sockets the TV has to connect other high definition devices such as SKY HD, HD DVD players and Blueray players.
VESA -
VESA stands for Video Electronic Standards Association, and is involved in the size of the TV and the relevant spacing and sizing of the holes on the back of the TV in relation to the holes on the bracket.
SCART Sockets -
SCART sockets are just the number of bi-directional input and output sockets the TV has to connect other devices such as DVD players.
